Greenwich House provides services for its elderly neighbors in Greenwich Village and the surrounding neighborhoods. Funded by the New York City Department for the Aging, the Senior Center is a vital resource for many in the community. It provides a safe, comfortable atmosphere where friendships grow among a spectrum of social, educational and cultural activities. Among the more popular offerings are poetry, health lectures, painting, bingo, exercise classes, movies, sing-a-longs, and card playing. Throughout the century, there were outstanding leaders and directors of the Pottery School who led the community for significant periods of time and left their marks. Greenwich Street Potters for example was for a time a real working studio that earned revenue by creating pottery and ceramics for famous people’s houses and gardens, and a display at the 1939 World’s Fair.

About the Village Alliance
The Center continues to integrate the Senior Health and Consultation Center’s unique lens as the only one of its kind in lower Manhattan providing mental health care, light home health care for those enrolled, and optional physical and health monitoring services. The Center for Resiliency and Wellness was formed in 2021 by merging the Children’s Safety Project and the Senior Health and Consultation Center. The Center provides intergenerational, trauma-informed, mental health services to children, youth, families, adults, and older adults, ages 3 to 100+.
